We made reservations through our concierge and when we got to the restaurant they had it scheduled for the following day. Ended up sitting in a booth in the bar where it was crazy loud and people were just standing next to our table. Did not enjoy experience at all! Waiter messed up our order and we had to eat in shifts.
Best meal we had in California. After 8 days from San Fran to LA, without question this was the best meal we had and we found some awesome places to eat. Highly recommend Sol.
Nice location. This is a fun place to go to in Newport. The food here is above average in my opinion, prices are so so, but overall a good experience. I’ve never been disappointed with the service here. They also have really good deserts.
Mexican Food @ it’s BEST. If you are the traveler from far away (Europe or Canada) enjoying you PCH drive from San Francisco to San Diego stop here for lunch. If your next hotel is booked in Encinitas, Solana Beach or La Jolla, stop here for dinner. Do not imagine your typical roadside or gas station Mexican (fast) food. No, no, no… It is located in the affluent Newport Beach, just beside posh Balboa island and it is upper middle class but surprisingly reasonably priced. The large windows offers a magnificent view at sunset over the marina full of toys for rich people. What about the food? Very fresh, very good. Most traditional Mexican dishes have a high degree of sophistication rarely seen. What about the service? It is quite good. If you are a traveler from Europe do not hesitate to ask about the dishes. You will be explained all details, receive excellent recommendations, maybe in your own language. Maybe there are better Mexican restaurants somewhere else in California or more luxurious restaurants in Newport Beach but I warmly recommend you to eat here. Last but not least… If your travel in your rental convertible full of luggage on the back seat the free valet parking service comes really handy.
If you want Bayside Mexican. This place and Javier’s are similar. Both are upscale Mexican. Both have very active bars/pick-up joints. They both are way too dark, but the Javier’s in Irvine is REALLY dark. I like this place a lot better than Javier’s. First off they handle large parties much better than Javier’s. We recently went and our party of 8 was one of 5 big groups and we were on the small side. The food isn’t as pricey and the service is much better. The street tacos and some of the other entrees can be light meals but the main entrees are pretty full offerings. The Short ribs were especially filling. They offer valet parking but you can also drive past that and park to the west of the restaurant in a big lot.
Amazing ceviche!
Hungry??. If you are Really hungry do not eat here because you will have to order much to fill your belly!! Pricey. Great skinny margs. Beautiful, on the bayfront location. Healthy and fresh food. Not for children really. Best ceviche ever!!
