Very Good Local Spot In Baldwin Hills. I have been to this spot 3-4 times now. Clean & neat,service decent. The Chili Verde and Short Ribs are quite tasty and prices are good. Had breakfast recently (egs, bacon, grits and toast & coffee), which I enjoyed. Only $10.00. Just good down home basic chow. Plenty of parking, easy access and you can call an order in. Also they have a very good Peach Cobbler.
It’s local, it’s good, the prices are reasonable. I wanted to call CJ’s a coffee shop, but don’t go to CJ’s for coffee — weak, accompanied by non-dairy creamer. Do go to CJ’s for food — Mexican, Soul Food, and basic American. The Soul Food is done surprisingly well, even the sides. They now offer delivery service to surrounding neighborhoods, which is very Westside of them. The restaurant itself is very clean, with lots of stainless stell. The waitstaff is proficient. Give CJ’s a try or two or three and do eat around the menu. I’ve found some interesting versions of a few dishes but I’ve never been disappointed. The tuna melt is noteworthy in a town where it’s hard to find a really good tuna melt.
