Lucy’s is where God goes when he’s in the mood for Mexican.. Lets be honest: Mexican food was meant to be eaten where no one but those you trust can see you eat like a pig. If prepared properly it’s messy, it’s cheesy, and it will leave you unconscious on your sofa with the TV on and your remote in your hand. Furthermore, Mexican food done right is for the REALLY HUNGRY. The I-haven’t-eaten-all-day-because-I-had-to-[fill in reason]-all-day crowd. This is why Lucy’s is to your sudden desire for Mexican food what Jonas Salk was to Polio. Open 24/7, Lucy’s unceremonious interior and exterior hide the secret to all yummy foods Mexican. Use the drive-thru so you can abscond with their huge burritos and loaded quesadillas to a place where no one can see you overeat. Get your hooks into the carnitas & egg burrito if you’re ready to consummate a food baby. And don’t get disappointed when you see a row of cars lined at the drive-thru waiting to get their fix. Lucy’s is no secret to the natives here, but the service is friendly and fast so you won’t be waiting in vain. But best of all, Lucy’s is the place for cheap & delicious GENUINE ceviche – I shit you not. The ceviche dinner plate is healthy AND plentiful AND the closest thing to ceviche from Cabo you’re gonna find without making an ACTUAL run to the border.Mexican restaurants are a dime a dozen in LA, but when you’re ready to chow down for-serious, hit Lucy’s, friendo.
Mmmm, mmmmm GOOD!. In this day and age, when we should be thinking fitness and practicing austere eating, there is something a little bit embarrassing about singing the praises of a greasy spoon like Lucy’s, but if you eat there, sing you must! The one on La Brea and Pico is the best, and always busy. Really, some of the best Mexican food in the City; good prices. One of my favorites…a custom order–a quesadilla, bien dorada (nicely toasty crispy) with cilantro, onion, tomato and carne asada inside, salsa on the side. The salsa is good, and not too hot, but I still like to have it as an aside. Nice people work there, too! I have been a faithful customer for 18 years!
