FORKED-TONGUE BARISTA. I went into Au Coquelet Cafe on March 14, 2014, at about 11a.m., got a coffee and was about to sit down when I noticed the barista, forties, very short and with a mustache, sticking his tongue out at me and repeatedly asking me if I wanted anything else. I brushed him off but want everybody who reads about this whacko response from somebody who is supposed to be hospitable and polite to know that it was exactly the opposite- offputting. This jerk should be admonishedby the people who employ him & taught what social conventions apply to him in his job. He was nasty, nasty, nasty and bordered on malicious. I hope everyone who reads about this experience will be forewarned about this fork-tongued monster and report him or any other personnel in the cafe that act in such a way to the owner or social media.

Pastries and coffee. Try to sit in the back room. it’s quaint and a great place to visit with a friend. likely to see a lot of UCB students here. worth it every time and certainly more bang for your buck.
Good coffee and pastries. Place has a special place in my heart because it is where my wife and I had coffee and dessert 13 years ago on our first date.
Whether you want coffee on the go, a quiet place to study or a delicious meal at a good price, au coquelet has it all. A must try.
