Berkeley Thai House (Asian/Thai). I love Asian food, and so does Berkeley. We’re a match made in heaven. Berkeley’s well known Berkeley Thai House is one of the cuisine’s flag bearers in the town. All the traditional favorites can be found inside the quaint, fenced in restaurant a dozen steps above Channing. Yellow, Red, and Green curries, noodle dishes like Pad Thai and Pad Se Ew, and meat and rice plates are among the favorites. The star of the show is Thai House’s signature Garlic Pepper Pork, a pile of savory shaved meat with rice and dipping sauces. Each morsel is mouthwatering, yet a little overcooked and tough. Thai Iced Tea is the drink of choice here, a perfect sweet and creamy pairing for the spiced and spicy entrees. Service is excellent and speedy, and most trips to the house cost less than $15 for the works. It is a pleasant place to spend your lunch hour, too, with art on the walls and a relaxed and romantic ambiance. Imm on University is Berkeley’s best Thai spot, but the Thai House fills the void on Southside well.Rating: 7.1/10 tasteperiod.blogspot.com
I’ve had better Thai food elsewhere, but for the price it was really good. The pineapple shrimp was tasty, Thai tea and coffee delicious as always, and they custom made us a dish when we asked for something that wasn’t on the menu. Their lunch plates also included these delicious little crispy samosa things- they were fried but were very light and so tasty! Would definitely come back.
