Cafe Rouge, terrific Bistro in Berkeley. I visit California 1 time a year, and during this trip (Jan) 2014 I just couldn’t get enough of the Rouge. Great atmosphere and great simple food. Oysters were fab. I had 6 to start and worked my way up from there. Kale salad was so good I had it each of the 4 times I went there. The friend I visit is a gluten free veggie and although there were choices on the menu our server suggested a mixed plate of all vegetables. My friend raved about this offering each time she got it. It’s a fun place -full of great food ,laughter and a little bit of Paris.

Great Location!!. Fun location off of 4th Street in Berkeley. Lots of shops and goodies to buy and look at. The restaurant has a meat counter and a gourmet shop adjacent to it that is fun to browse. The restaurant has a nice light openness about it. Large bar if you want to hang out and have a cocktail and a bite to eat. You can also sit outside and enjoy the weather on a summer day. Wait staff is friendly and attentive. My family likes to dine here when they are in the area, they love the hanger steak and frys. Food is freshly prepared and quick.

My favorite!!. Every week we would either have lunch or dinner here and would of continued if we had not moved!! Excellent service staff and the menus utilize the freshest ingredients available. Loved sitting at the bar, sipping a martini and downing a few oysters. You can buy cuts of meat to take home at the meat counter of sit back and have something off the menu. It can get quite busy on weekends with all the drive-in shoppers but worth fighting for parking!!
Unbelievable the steak I had. Both me and my wife had a great meal. Solid.
