My favorite date place in Berkeley, especially if you want to just hang out in the back with some live blues or jazz. Their patio, next to the fire, is just the best way to spend the evening.Their beer selection is pretty good, probably one of the better ones in Berkeley. But their food is nothing to write home about. The only recommendation I’d have is to try out the garlic bread. The whole head of roasted garlic is served separately, and is a unique twist on the old favorite. Goes well with their honey wheat beer, or Hefeweizen, IMHO. While some others like their wood-fired pizzas, I find them pretty ordinary.TL;DR: Go for the ambience and the beer. Garlic bread is worth the money, can miss the other food items.
Atmosphere and beer must numb the pizza sense of its customers. I’ll admit, first, the beer was quite good, and the atmosphere – the patio especially – great, but the pizza? Blech! the appetizers – also BLECH! Aritchoke and spinach dip comes in a tiny, tiny bowl for an inflated price; Hummus two ways in even tinier bowls for an also inflated price! And, neither was particularly tasty. The pizza, or should I say large flatbread with barely anything like a topping on top, and also flavorless and even more overpriced? It must be the beers that blind its apparently numerous customers to the boring, excessively priced feature pizza… don’t waste your palate’s time!
Great Atmosphere. The House Porter was amazing mixed with Pomegranate Cider. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Awesome at everything. The food was really good. The Hefeweizens were great. Amazing service.
Go elsewhere. My son and I found this place dirty, way too loud, slow service, and below average pizza. How hard is it to make a decent pizza? The thing was 60% crust, as if the chef just didn’t care. He whips them out too fast because the place is way too busy. Go figure. How does a place this bad get such high reviews? It makes zero sense. We were indoors, so maybe it’s cleaner and quieter on the patio.
Good pizza, beer, patio. Ate at Jupiter’s while visiting my step-daughter in mid-August. The pizza was delicious and they have a great beer selection. We were fortunate enough to be able to snag a table by the fire without having to wait. There was a little jazz combo playing as well. Overall a very pleasant experience.
