This place opened about a year ago and I’ve been back a few times. The gourmet ghetto needed a high-end sushi place, and Kamodo fits the bill. The chef/owner is top notch and really seems to care about his sushi. He stocks whatever is in season…. often local, but sometimes special things from around the world only available at certain times of the year. Basically, he is catering to the Gourmet ghetto market. It’s not cheap but if you want great high-end sushi in the East Bay, this place is a find.It has other Japanese food as well, but honestly I’ve only had the sushi. My comments are mostly about the nigiri, but the few rolls I’ve had were also very good.Small and clean and has relatively easy parking.
Your sushi is excellent. However, sometimes you tempura is greasy To me it means that your oil is either old or if new you did not have it a the right temperature. Tempura should not be greasy if cooked properly at the right temperature. If the oil is hot, when you take out the tempura, the grease should evaporate. Something you should consider. Cheers.
