The food was good. The staff was weirdly rude. They let a group sit behind us with a dog. Just a dog. Not a seeing eye dog. The dogs hair was blowing around. Like I said the food was good but I probably wont return.
Kaze (Japanese/Ramen). Ramen is basically its own food group. Good ramen is amazing. Amazing ramen is transcendental. That means Kaze’s ramen falls somewhere around decent. Their flagship soup, Tonkotsu ramen, features bland and greasy broth, soft noodles, and fatty, overcooked chashu. Like I said, though, ramen is basically its own food group. This special status means Kaze’s mediocre bowls still hit the spot on cold days, hot days, wedding days, and basically all days. Gyoza, sushi rolls, and teriyaki are delicious on most dates too, and Kaze offers all three. None of the dishes are too tasty, but they’re all edible for the price (under $10). A ton of other places in Berkeley serve Japanese food too, but you can’t make it out the door at most of them without spending at least $20. If you’re in the mood for good gyoza and a fancy, yet poor, bowl of noodles on a budget, go to Kaze. Otherwise, stay away and opt for some great pizza, because that’s about all you’ll get for ten bucks in the Bay Area.Rating: 4.7/10 tasteperiod.blogspot.com
