Yummy!. My second visit. I came last year and was blown away. It didn’t knock my socks off this time, but still VERY good. The Memphis dry rub ribs were great. The Kansas style were a little too spicy for my wimpy mouth, but my husband loved them. The garlic mashed potatoes are to die for. The corn bread was a little stale this time, but still delicious. Others at the table had the pulled pork tacos and the chicken tacos (both raved over), the Cobb salad, one with fried chicken and the other with shrimp (the smalls were HUGE), and the side of brussel sprouts (again, deemed delicious). We will return.

That chicken tho. What a restaurant. I’ll never forget those three little amazing pieces of fried chicken. A little pricey and less homey than I like my bbq joints, but they came up big with the food.

Great BBQ and an amazing staff!!!!. This place is awesome! I have been coming here for a long time. T-Rex has had its ups and downs but they are back on the right track. Their meats are some of the best you can get in Berkeley. Definitely try their mac and cheese. Say hi to their head chef Ryan if you get a chance he will blow your mind with some BBQ knowledge!

What a letdown. TRex is simply overpriced for what you get. The concept is there but the food simply does not measure up to the inflated prices. The baby back ribs were tasty but they completely lacked the tender, fall of the bone quality which should be standard. The brussel sprout side I ordered was oily and salty. Less is more when it comes to seasoning veggies. We were a table of five and the kitchen just couldn’t seem to get our food out all at once despite the restaurant being sparsely seated. Half the food came out and 10 minutes later the rest followed.

Adventures in LaLa(limes) Land. Wonderful atmosphere, lively without being too loud. Great natural light. All around a very enjoyable, well designed space. The drinks are good. Generally of the hipster concoction variety, as one will find at any of the Lalimes spin offs. The side dishes are great. I order lots of them to share, tapas style, and do my best to politely talk people out of ordering the BBQ. Their sandwiches are good. Burgers too. Pulled pork is decent. I don’t even bother with the ribs anymore, particularly with Everett and Jones down the street. The irony is that back when Lalimes was solo, before TRex/SeaSalt/Fonda/etc, once a month they would do an all you can eat rib night. Lalimes is an upscale spot, white table cloths and back then it was one specific fix priced meal a night, menu published monthly. and once a month the KC-ish style ribs would just keep coming out. My mom would take me – I was ten or so at the time – so I do not remember what it cost. I do recall, though, it was cheep enough that occasionally you would see a couple CAL guys show up and just go to town. Its odd that somehow in the spinning off of that event into a restaurant they managed to create a one which forgot how to make the ribs and yet did not fail to make a restaurant worth regular return trips.

Don’t spend your money here. This is one of those places I always think I’m going to like but never do. The food sounds good on the menu but has been pretty bad in reality. Beating the food for badness is the service. The servers are unfailingly chipper but they don’t seem able to take orders in a timely way or to deliver food at the right temperature to the person who order it. Forget everyone getting their meal at approximately the same time. Never happens. The only thing above average for this place are the prices which are on a par with restaurants that actually serve good food with good service. Sorry, guys. You really deserve all the bad reviews you get.

I had a party with my family here and we had terrible service. It took a half hour for our order to be taken and an hour for the food come out. Some of our orders were given right when we got our check. The food was cold n not worth the price at all.
