They say you can judge a chef by how well he/she can cook an egg. If that is so, Chef Joel and kitchen crew would be judged among the best after our delicious brunch last Sunday. We enjoyed a yummy root vegetable hash with roasted sweet tiny yellow and red beets and potatoes topped with perfectly cooked poached eggs. We also enjoyed a great twist on eggs Benedict: homemade English muffin with asparagus and avocado with house-cured trout, again the poached eggs perfectly cooked, topped with turmeric and orange hollandaise. Scrumptious! The entire meal was super including the 3 beignets, one plain, one deliciously stuffed with great chocolate and another stuffed with cherries. And we had to try the bloody beet mary with beet juice and a house-made spicy tomato juice, with a nice thick slice of Indian spiced bacon angling out the top of the glass.
