I was in LA for a meeting and was super excited when I heard dinner was going to be here. Eating at Matsuhisa is one of those rare experiences that lets you know how special food can be. Sitting at the private sushi bar with the group was an amazing experience from beginning to end. It was set up for omakase style, and we continued to receive delicious course after course with different adventures in food texture and temperature. Every course was spectacular, there were several dishes that stood out:the ceviche was excellent, the Toro (Toban-yaki) for the main course was definitely memorable, and the spicy tuna with crispy rice was awesome. Of course, the sake selection was wonderful as well. I can check that off of my bucket list 🙂

Best sushi in LA. Matsuhisa is one of my all time favorite restaurants. I have never been disappointed by anything there. The sushi is by far the best I’ve ever had and I go to a lot of sushi places. This is also the only restaurant I know of where you can get fried soft shell crab year round. I think the food is far superior to Nobu too.
Love. Crispy rice with spicy tuna. And fruit flavored sake. Have yet to find these offered anywhere else. If I were on death row, this would make a perfect last meal.
Disappointed. Overpriced. Friendly staff with Mediocre chefs? Usually the opposite. Our waitress was great, honest answers to our questions and accurate advice on dishes, however, I had to witness the chef berating her. His preparation was mediocre, with so many good chefs out there, why pay top dollar for just so-so. Uncool. The waitress was better than the chef.
