SO excited for the reopening but that quickly diminished. The hostess had the manner of a line cook. Fine. It’s late, she’s probably tired, I figured. I’d been CRAVING the Chicken Satay and seaweed. The reason I’ve loved Chow/Phillipe from NY to LA. The sauce was scorched! Waitress said that’s the way it’s served. REALLY? I asked for a sample of the sauce alone and she was correct, the whole vat was scorched. The rest of the food was ho hum. Drinks (boytled water and Lychee Blossoms) were good. More than the location is in need of change.
Philippe is Back. I went to an opening event here recently. This is the second time I have eaten at Philippe and it was pretty good. (I can’t remember from the old spot on Melrose) The service was a little slow, but you can see the kitchen from the bar and everyone looked like they were working as fast as they could. Its good to know they are located in Beverly Hills as a late night high end eating option.
