Sushi Dokoro Ki Ra LA. Dokoro Ki Ra La is one of the finer Sushi restaurants in LA. It is also one of the least known ones, too. I came here for my birthday one year and had a great experience. Though I wanted to sit at the bar, the table experience is more intimate. I usually like to the banter with the sushi chefs. In my humble opinion, its almost necessary with the alcohol and sushi. We had Omakase, since we didn’t want to deal with ordering this or that. Omakase makes things easier at a new sushi restaurant. Hopefully Omakase means that they have the best cuts of fish and not mean fish that they need to sell quickly. I don’t remember the individual sushi that we had but i do remember each presentation being refinedlyexquisite. consumed, first by vision, Dokoro Ki Ra La dose not disappoint. Japanese food is meant for the eyes, while Chinese food is eating by the mouth, and Korean food is by the stomach. As I said before sushi isn’t meant to be just dined . . . the whole experience requires a sort of festive experience with your chef. The restaurant itself, screams pristine and nouveau California (almost a bit 80’s). Though I liked the food, I am hesitate to return based on my preference of what I think how sushi should be experienced. thirstypig.com
