I can finally put a check mark next to Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian’s name on my list of Iron Chef owned restaurant I’ve visited. It was DineLA week so I took the opportunity to grab lunch at Georgie. The restaurant is located within the Montage Beverly Hills occupying the space of what was previously Scarpetta. When entering, you first walk through the bar/lounge area before reaching the hostess booth. The bar is self-seating so I decided grab a seat there. Plus, most tables were already reserved for lunch. I took a look at the regular and DineLA menu to see what both had to offer. The most noticeable difference was the lobster roll that is $39 on the lunch menu but was being offered in a 3 course meal for $25 on the DineLA menu. I think it’s a no brainer which I was going to choose haha. For my lunch I chose the kobocha squash soup, the warm lobster roll and the apple galette. The kobocha squash soup was a lot better than I anticipated. The yellow curry could be tasted throughout the soup. It’s flavor and density also reminded me of puree from a tortilla soup. The coconut milk on top did little to change it’s flavor but the peanuts and cilantro added to it. The lobster roll was perfect. Nice chunks of lobster sat between a warm butter roll. The Coleman’s mustard drizzled on top was great as well. I wasn’t very big on the apple galette dessert. It was ok in my opinion. I was hoping for a more tangy apple flavor. I did enjoy the ginger spice gelato on top though. The only time I like ginger is when its used in a mule so it was cool to actually like it in a desert for once.Great lunch under $30, not bad. Even without the DineLA price, I’d recommend the lobster roll and the soup when it comes to its flavors. Of course, I’d add in the disclaimer about the cost. Unless you’re a big spender or don’t mind the price, this is a restaurant to visit on occasion or special occasions. In my case, it was DineLA and it put me one step closer to finishing off my Iron Chef restaurants list without breaking my wallet. Not bad Iron Chef Zakarian. I’ll look forward to dining at Georgie again or trying another of his restaurants the next time I’m in New York as that’s where the majority of his restaurants are. I’m curious to know what the short rib taste like so that’ll be my next target for an entree.Visit Date 1/20/2017
