Burgers and Milkshakes. Milkshakes
A good ’50s style diner in a great location. A cozy and completely legitimate 1950’s style restaurant in West Los Angeles. Offers a great selection of milkshakes and all the classic diner food you would expect from such a place. My favorite dish was usually a burger or the patty melt.Unique treats that anyone visiting Cafe ’50s should enjoy: (1) a good selection of board games on the back wall that customers can use(2) check out their website for the pajama night held once a week – a matching set of full length PJs gets you a free meal with beverage purchase and a mismatched set get’s you half off! We had a blast showing up in our PJs once or twice.Other fun events (ex.- table-side magicians) held from time-to-time and advertised on their website.
L Used to be a great spot …. L Used to be a great spot in West LA. Unfortunately the service was absolutely awful. Sat around begging for water and refills the whole meal Four employees standing around talking telling jokes in Oblivion Wall plate after plate sets on the counter getting cold. Our way to Toffany screwed up the whole order Serve the food cold overcharged us and ignored us. If you’re a senior looking to reminisce about the fifties you will be treated horribly and like you’re invisible here. I don’t think this place it even stay in business when we ask for a manager nothing happened. The waitress just all the time she was a single mom it wasn’t her fault
I’m currently visiting LA solo for a week so I was riding around looking for a place that looked suitable for a solo dinner. Cafe 50’s has bar-stools so it was perfect. My cheeseburger and fries were good, and the apple pie shake was delectable. I only wish the total wasn’t $17. Worth a visit bit can quickly get expensive of you aren’t traveling solo.
A Diner, Pure and Simple. I always wanted Cafe 50’s to be better than it was. I mean, it’s okay, not great, not bad, just average. The portions are in keeping with the price, the atmosphere is friendly, the place is clean, and the food is definitely better than chain diners like Denny’s and Norm’s. But, I just feel that as one of the few small-chain/non-chain diners left, the food needs to be kicked up a notch to really make first-timers into repeat customers.I recommend the breakfast (which is what I usually get at a diner) with a mimosa. Yes, they serve you a glass of OJ and a little champagne bottle. Truly cute and a treat if you come in for a Sunday brunch. If you aren’t into mimosas, go for a milkshake, they are actually my favorite Cafe 50’s item and there are something like 30 kinds.Warning: Lot parking really stinks. Expect to have to park on the street and (during lunch/dinner time) spend a lot of time circling the block.
Really fun place for young families or anyone wanting some good old fashioned diner food. They even have a magician coming by the tables on certain days.
Cafe 50’s. I love, love this place! I’ve been going here for ages. The food, service & quality are consistently great! They have all kinds of food – appetizers, salads, sandwiches, deserts. The theme of the rock’ n roll days is the best. It takes one back to a simpler time in life. The prices have increased somewhat recently, but the quality is still the same. Parking is definitely challenging, but is worth the effort. Enjoy!
