If you’re looking for a bit more expensive and nice sushi restaurant Katsuya is the place to go. The menu is refined and the robata grill is unique. The ambiance is lounge like and is comforting yet classy and up scale.

Ms. WD. I am very critical of restaurants and the quality of food served, but this is one of the best restaurants I have eaten at. The food was fresh and tasteful with a wide variety offered. The service was attentive and the staff was pleasant from the hostess to the waitress.

Katsuya. Kinda pricy, slow service, but the food and drinks made up for it all. I recommend the crispy rice with spicy tuna appetizer to start. Also, I enjoyed the Burning Madarin. It is a citrus vodka drink with a touch of heat from jalepenos. After that, just sit back and enjoy, because all of the entrees and sushi are delicious. I would definitely go back.

Great, but…. We went to Katsuya last night for my husbands birthday. We got seated right away with lots of smiles. Our table was small and surrounded by standing people all around us having drinks at the bar. It was pretty uncomfortable, but we have been here before, and know that this is the case some times. Obviously we would have much preferred a different area. It seems like those 4 tables should be high top bar tables. Just a thought! Our server was very sweet and greeted us right away. We ordered our drinks. Waited about five minutes and still no drinks. She said she was sorry and we ordered our first course. The shishito peppers came out in about 1 minute! They were so yummy! Still no drinks. We ordered our second course. It came out in about 2 minutes! Then our drinks arrived. The warm crab rolls in rice paper are amazing! The fried rice with tuna tar tar was also very tasty. When our plates were cleared we ordered our second drink, hoping the first time was just a random thing considering we were 2 ft. from the bar. Nope.We ordered dessert, the banana creppe. It came very fast as well. Delicious! Still, no drinks. Finally our second drinks arrive and we were done with our dinner. We had planned on a nice long night out, but the mood changed when we ate so fast and had no chance to enjoy a much needed drink. The hostess called us a cab and we head home. The food and feel of this restaurant is always our favorite. I cannot understand the drinks. It really makes no sense and it just shows that something as simple as a slow bartender can make or break your night.

Pricey but perfect. All other sushi joints seem to pale in comparison. So delicate, melts in your mouth. Quite a few plastic people and personalities dining therein, but that’s LA eating at these prices.

Lame!. Blah! Nothing to write home about and I was expecting it to be great with all the hype. Their tuna sashimi was sliced SO THIN, it was really good, but I could barely taste it since it was such a small thin piece. Not too many specialty rolls. We tried their crab and avocado wrapped halibut and that thing was a joke. It was nothing but crab, avocado, and halibut on a stick…are you kidding me? And for like $20? It was gross too!
