We had tickets at the Walt Disney Concert Hall to see The LA Philharmonic and conductor Gustavo Dudamel perform the world premier of a piece by composer Arvo Prt. The performance wasn’t until 2:00, so we made reservations for brunch at Kendall’s Brasserie, located 2 minutes walk from the Concert Hall.We arrived at 12:00, and it was nice and quiet inside, with a handful of other diners. The last time I was here was back in 2008, when I had tickets for a performance at the Music Center, probably at the Ahmanson. Dining during the day was much nicer, as the natural light made the restaurant more inviting. While waiting for our drinks, and looking over the menu, we were served rustic french bread. Then we selected our entree: I had the Brasserie Scramble: Tavern ham, aged Gruyere cheese, onions, mushrooms, Yukon Gold potatoes ($13.50). Stephen selected the Short Rib Hash served with sunny side eggs and spinach ($17).The food was delicious, and satisfying. We still had plenty of time, so we decided to share a dessert, a Cherry Clafouti, which was a cherry tart with mascapone chantilli cream. It was not very sweet, and a perfect ending to a great brunch.I liked that they knew we had show tickets, and wrote on the ticket we had a 2:00 performance. Service was hit and miss, but overall decent. callmemochelle.com
