Service was good but the food was blah. I had steak (filet) which came out luke warm WAY over cooked and no flavor. I was staying at the Marriott and wanted something close, trust me it’s worth the walk to go elsewhere!

Unimaginative Food. My trip to the back porch can be summed up as two big pros and two big cons. first, the pros:* parking at the marriott was only $3 for two hours with restaurant validation – a great deal by downtown LA standards.* there’s outdoor seating available near a swimming pool, so the vibe is casual and relaxed.* the presentation of my dish (roasted turkey and brie sandwich) was very elegant and appealing.now, the cons:* the restaurant is set up as if it were a las vegas buffet – a lot of space with nooks and crannies here and there. because there weren’t nearly enough patrons to fill it, all four or five tables in the restaurant were seated next to each other – an awkward feel and i heard word for word the conversations of the two tables next to me.* the entries were fairly expensive – $17 to $23 for lunch – and were pretty basic dishes a la carte. sandwiches were $13 and $14 and came with a few fries. for these prices i’d expect some soup or salad to come with the items. burgers, sandwiches, rigatoni, steak…nothing compelling.overall, i think the ‘sitting on top of your neighbor in a cavernous space’ vibe and unimaginative food would keep me from returning. given the parking concession and the general elegance of west-side downtown dining, that’s a shame.
