Porto’s is a must try, just look at the lines. That being said, the lines do go faster then you’d expect. Every time I’ve been here, I make a mental note of what to get next time. Needless to say, that list is very long. I haven’t had anything that I don’t like here and I don’t think I ever will.

Food here was pretty good and the wait time was shorter than expected. The service was great. Only downfall was that they forgot to order my drink and I was waiting for over 20 minutes. When we asked the waiter that’s when we realised that the order wasn’t put through. They apologised and gave me the drink for free which was nice. There is a wide variety of food at this place so it’s hard to make up your mind. There are also extensive desserts. But all the food is quite yummy and the price is good. Would recommend this place to family and friends.

After Dinner Dessert SpotNice place to grab coffee and pastries after dinner. The options are plenty. The lines are usually long but they move fast. There is plenty of seating. 🙂

Now I know why everyone goes gaga over Portos. Best Cuban Bakery in Cali! Me and my sister queued in both take away and dine in line so we can have a try of their pastries and savory dine-in dishes. Fresh, tasty and worth a 40 minute drive from our hotel in Los Angeles. We even brought 6 boxes of their assorted pastries in San Fo. Must Try: Potato balls, Guava and Cheese Strudel, Cheese Rolls, Empanadas, Mango Turnover, Croquettes, Medianoche and Lechon Plate.

One of the food highlights of my trip. Everything I had was so good. Vegetariana sandwich was served with banana chips. Every bite was just perfect. A lady standing in the queue to be served even asked me which one was it.Cheese bites and potato bites were amazing. Also, they serve stronger coffee than most of US cafes. I went for an extra shot and was buzzing.

One of the places I would highly recommend if you are visiting LA. The quality of the food is high and it is also different from the usual stuff. The latte was a little weak but the ice mocha was one of the best I have had. The pulled pork plate with banana chips was really special. Potato balls and empanadas were great as well. Very, very crowded. Glad of the car park out the back but even this was packed.

I’ve been to Portos many times and am always impressed by the selection, the prices and their ability to get you fairly punctual service despite the sheer volume of patrons. I like to get a Tres Lech , Coffee cake, chocolate mousse, guava cheese puff, or tiramisu. Last visit I tasted their chocolate chip cookies and found them to be very good also. Not too crispy but not mushy. A firm but chewy not overly sweet cookie. I was sad to come to the conclusion that the quality and size of the Pastrami sandwich (my go to meal) has been declining each year that I visit from Toronto. About 4 years ago when we first laid eyes on each other it was fatty and juicy and full of meat. Last visit it seemed like it had gone on a serious diet and was a shadow of its once voluptuous self. Baked goods wise, Portos can’t be beat but with disappointments like Pastrami Zero (diet Pastrami lol) and the unimpressive Cubano sandwich, I can only really give Portos a 4.0
