Gustatory. Great place for the cousins to get together. I had Joe’s Special — eggs, spinach, mushrooms, ground beef and onions — which I first had over 50 years ago in North Beach. Stil yummy, but I could not finish my portion.

Great food, friendly staff, good prices. A bit noisy, but a great place in general.

Good Food But Too Expensive for Lunch. Took my boss to Max’s recently and while we both liked it, the prices are a bit much for a business lunch that we were going to expense. I had a half a Pastrami Sandwich and the Matzo Ball soup which was reasonable for @$11. The boss was hungrier so he ordered a Turkey sandwich and the cup of soup.which ran $17. I don’t know about the rest of you, but we really try to keep business lunches to around $25 bucks and this one with $3 ice teas ran more than ten dollars over that.Still, the food is tasty and the prices wouldn’t scare me away for dinner though I know many would disagree.

Great food and even better dessert! You can make a meal just off dessert.

Always good food and great wine with a good pour from the bar tenders. Have listen to some good piano players too. Nice place to hang for a brew.
