  A Typical Starbucks….. ….so why bother writing a review at all?Yes, the coffee is the consistently average fare you’d get at any of their one billion locations. I’m no coffee snob – I go to Starbucks and I enjoy their coffee.The review is about this specific Starbucks on the corner of Burlingame Ave and Lorton. Not about the store itself, mind you, though the layout of the store itself is pretty awkward. It’s a long, tight space, and if you enter through the main entrance, you have to walk 3/4 of the way through the store and u-turn into the order area. The staff is alright. They’re competent – not as friendly as some other locations, but they get the job done.No, I’m here to expound upon the clientele of this particular establishment, with a special shout out to the weekend crowd. To sum it up – they suck.Though I’ve moved away from Burlingame, I still go back there once or twice a month to partake in its pedestrian friendly areas and its farmers market, and I’m sure many residents of the peninsula do the same. What I’ve noticed is that the self-absorbed-suckiness-quotient of the people that walk the weekend streets of Burlingame Avenue seem to be increasing, and it seems to reach its apex at this Starbucks.Across all ages and ethnicities, the suckiness shines through. Now, I would not say I am an especially gallant individual, but I do try to maintain a veneer of civilized behaviour, such as opening the door all the way and holding if for a second so that it does not slam on the person behind me. Not at this Starbucks – chances are, the person in front of you will quickly walk through and let the door shut behind them. Sometimes, they’ll just open the door the bare minimum and furtively slip through.Hey, are you a large group wanting to chat on a weekend afternoon? The small space around the entrance is *the* perfect place to mill about. And definitely make the barest minimum effort to shift your amorphous blob of a group to allow people to actually pass by and you know, get into the store.On the upside, the belief in equality and fair play runs strong here – if you are a single woman or man with a stroller, you won’t ever need to fear the condescending attitudes that the spawnless sometimes show, such as holding open the door open for you as you maneuver in and out. If you are elderly and not as spry as you used to be, don’t fret – there is definitely someone behind you rolling their eyes or muttering under their breath about how they are treating you the same as any other individual on this earth.All in all, if you want to enjoy your beverage amongst the company of random a**holes, this is the Starbucks for you.

  Nice, but smoky. The people who work here are fairly nice and the location is excellent, if you don’t mind walking through a cloud of smoke by either entrance. This is the only Starbucks I encounter this at. People hang out in masses by the two outer entrances smoking. Though Starbucks posts that it is a smoke free environment, they do not enforce it. If you have any kind of respiratory illness or asthma, you shouldn’t go to this location. Go to the location less than a mile away on Broadway.
