Went out for a girls night a month or so ago and loved the outdoor cabana we reserved…but it only got worse from there. The waitress took a long time to even say hello and get our drink order. We FINALLY got drinks after about 30 min of waiting. We did not see the waitress again until 45 min later. We asked to speak to the manager because of the slowest service on earth (and we were STARVING by that point) and he was EXTREMELY rude and was rushing us through our food orders. He blamed it on an unusually busy night with less staff than could handle the heavy load. The food was decent, but I don’t care if the food was magnificent, the service SUCKED! My 6 friends and I will never go back there, and we have made sure that all of our other friends know what to expect from staff and management.
Ruined my anniversary!. We went to Safire based on online and friend recommendations. What a horrible restaurant! We had a waitress with the worst attitude (she scoffed at us when we said we didn’t want dessert). The food was not that good AND they microwaved my husband’s Lobster ravioli after they brought it to him cold (with a half eaten ravioli still on his plate). Ruined our anniversary dinner.
Cheap surf and turf. Nice atmosphere, decent bread, friendly waiter, good looking customers… and good steak.
One of the best restaurants in Ventura County!. I’ve eaten at Safire a number of times and have always had the most wonderful time! I am shocked by some of these negative reviews! I have never had a bad experience with this restaurant…Never ever! I love the atmosphere and music! I have always had attentive service from the hostess and wait staff. Their salads are great. Their aged rib eye steak is to die for! I’ve also had seafood a number of times and it’s always delicious! The desserts I’ve had were very yummy! I have only come for dinner, and have taken guests quite a few times, and they have also loved the food and ambiance. Who would have guessed Camarillo would have this jewel of a restaurant hidden in the middle of a strip mall? Give it a try!
Yummy. Really great food! Will be pricey but at least it will be up to par. Don’t be suprised if you are hungry later.
Great appearance…but no substance.. Safire is without a doubt one of this nicest looking restaurants in Camarillo. But as we all know, looks can be deceiving. My husband and I went to an early dinner last night and we had high hopes for Safire. The host was courteous and efficient. Our waiter seemed attentive and then it all went down hill from there. We both ordered the prime rib medium rare. Not two minutes after we ordered it, our dinners arrived. Now I realize that prime rib is not a cooked to order steak, but two minutes isn’t even enough time to slice a prime rib properly, let alone plate it and serve it. I can only assume that the prime rib was presliced and sitting in the kitchen somewhere just waiting for it to be ordered. And when we bit into it, that was more than evident. Other than the crust on the outside, the meat had no flavor and was so tough that I could barely cut through it. They attempted to mask it’s dryness and lack of flavor with a plate swimming in watery au jus. The yukon potato puree was like baby food, no flavor, no texture. There wasn’t even salt or pepper on the table to maybe fix the lack of either in the potatoes. The other side was creamed spinach, which appeared to be the side dish with any entree you ordered, no matter what it was. I’ve never like creamed spinach, but I tried it anyway and confirmed that I am not a fan. The only bright spot of the entire meal was the creamy horseradish, which was superb. The drink my husband ordered was tasty but more ice than beverage. Beware any one who orders a glass of wine. The restaurant has very large glasses, which they only fill one-quarter full, which is considered a glass of wine. At $8 for the cheapest glass, this is ridiculous. While the server first seemed attentive, it became quickly apparent that he was hovering instead. He was constantly standing 5 feet from our table. The second I closed my menu, he came to take our order. He never once came to check on us after the meal had been served. I had barely laid my fork down when he came to whisk our plates away. It was very unnerving. It made us feel like we were unwanted patrons and he was rushing us through our meal, even though the restaurant wasn’t even half full.To sum up, if you are willing to spend $85 on dinner for two, there are much better places to do it.
No good. Food is just ok, nothing special to make it worth the premium they want to charge. Staff is friendly. Atmosphere very dimly lit. We have no desire to return.
