I love Greek food. I can easily say I have eaten at dozens of Greek restaurants. I am originally from the east coast where Greek restaurants are all over the place. But since I have lived in LA quite a few years and my experience with some other restaurants range from good to just ok. Athena’s is by far the best Greek food I have ever had. I only had the gyro sandwich when I was there which is there least espensive item but it was fantastic and made with great care. The lamb was tender and moist and the vegetables in it were all fresh. The pita bread it was wrapped in was warm and tasted fresh baked. They have a selection of pizza that I am dying to try next time. It was hard not to smell how good it was from the table next to me. The decor was simple and lends itself to casual dining. It is definitely a good place to take a date. They have both wine and beer selections and a bi screen plasma on the wall if you want to catch the latest game but it is separate from the main dining area If you want privacy while eating. The service was kind and friendly. When I was waiting on my food one of the chefs came out and brought it out himself when he saw how busy things were. I highly recommend Athena’s to anyone who likes Good food made with fresh ingredients.
