    Terrible!. This place is the pits! Maybe they think they are saving electricity but it is so incredible dark inside that you can’t even see each other. To add insult to injury, the light over our table was burned out. When I asked the server, she told me it had been out for days and she lite a little candle. I don’t care how good the food may be, turn on the damn lights! Don’t you people read your reviews! Other reviews complain about the same thing. Don’t waste your money going . This isn’t ambiance, just terrible accommodations!

    We have been coming here over 25 years and no complaints but today we ordered 3 prime rib plates two of them medium rare which were really rare so you could really smell and taste the rancid meat. My wife had a end cut so she couldnt smell it. But after four bites she smelled my daughters piece and stopped eating hers also since it was from the same rack. The waitresses were great as always but the Lady Owner treated us very rudely making us feel like scammers. I would never try to scam and had no problem to pay the bill & tip for the service was good. Its just the owner denied the bad meat but if she would have smelled our pieces it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out its bad and should be thrown away so as not to get anybody sick. So if in the future you get your piece well done it might be to cover up the smell and taste of bad meat.

    Great Place to Eat. So many people like the chain places. My husband and I eat at those place on a regular basis. But when we wan to have a *special* dinner. We always eat here. It may be a tad dated, but the food is wonderful, the service is good. The servers remember you from a being a regular. In 20+ years of eating here, they seem to get better each year….. If there is ever a problem, all you have to do is ask for Carol-> general Manager, and she will take care of it.I give this place a 10!!!!!!

    Fatty cuts of meat of inferior quality, but at least they’re pricey! For the same price I can pick up filets for the whole family and be assured that the quality of meat and cooking are what I expect.

    Had heard great things about this place finally went wanted a good meal had high expectations! Was let down big time! Service was good but I and my wife both ordered the porterhouse med well! Got our steaks and they were both well done! Not a drop of juice left chared on the out side and completely brown through out! When the waitress checked on us we had already both eaten halve are steaks cud we were starving ! And it was a while before she checked back on us! Anyway I let her know that it was over cooked and she apologized and asked if we wanted to send them Back ! I said no cus we had already eaten half and I didn’t want to waste food ! So we continued to eat are over done food expecting for them to make some kind of atempt to correct the issue ! No such attempt was made just brought are bill and left meanwhile we were paid very little attention to! Drinks empty since half the meal none offered to refill at all! So after paying the bill and tipping well I went to the hostess and let them I wasnt happy! She said let me get the manager I waited for him ! I never usually will take the time to complain about food unless it’s pretty bad! So I let him know the situation and he asked why I didn’t send it back I explained to him that first of all I don’t like to waste food and we were also starving snd that it was a while before we were checked on! He then defended his cooks and insisted that that is how we ordered it! I was completely taken back a manager was telling me how I ordered my food! Wow! This dinner cost me $90.00 and was not even up to Denny’s standards! I had hoped this manager would also try to make it right maybe offer us to come back again giving us some discount or offering to refund a portion of are meal or even offer a desert or something no such attempt was made! Talking to the manager just pissed me off more! I am debating disputing the charge on my credit card maybe then I’ll get their attention! This was a terrible sittuation and I wish I would have just stopped by a Mc Donald’s ! I would have been more happy! I am truely sorry cus I had such great expectations of the place and have heard people compliment this place! But I’ll NEVER go back! I am a steak eating red blooded american and know when I order a steak med well it should still be juicy and tasty not dry and have to saw it with great effort to cut it! I will tell everyone about my experience their and hope that the owner of this place hears about it! Your manager is a jerk! This could have been handled MUCH better! I still can’t be leave this is how you treat a paying customer! Wow!!!!

    Why go to a chain, when you could go to a place with character and great steaks! I have enjoyed Backwoods for years and drive an hour to get there!

    Like it! Rustic Western. Wife and I went here about 5 years ago and we liked it. Because it’s out of sight and out of mind we pretty much just forgot about it until driving past it by accident in July of this year. We stopped to eat and we really enjoyed it again. I had prime rib and she had seafood. Both cooked perfectly. We went back again last weekend. I got a steak and she again got seafood. Again, we were both happy with the food and slow dining. We hate being rushed. We like the rustic western atmosphere of the past and will probably eat there 3-4 times a year.
