Great Meal. My second time dining here. Promptly seated and courteous service. I ordered the fish and chips. I substituted the chips for a second vegetable, grilled zucchini. My friend ordered the fresh water trout. Both selections were excellent. I was seated on the enclosed patio which was cozy and warm with adequate heaters. I would definitely dine here again.
AWFUL. Do NOT waste your money, go somewhere else. My husband and I loved King’s and would drive over one hour each week for dinner. We went yesterday and were incredibly disappointed! Our dinner portions were unbelievably small. I ordered Salmon sashimi and was shocked that it was a measly five, extremely PAPER THIN, small pieces. My husband’s fish was not even the size of the palm of my hand, and I am a small person. The mashed potato side he ate in only 3 bites. The only good, fairly priced item was my Mai Tai. Our bill with tip was over $90.00 for this very disappointing, very small dinner.
We hadwe had a horrible experience here. Terrible service, cold food, overcooked fish. Double charged our credit. No help from manager the next day when we called. Will not return.
Fantistic! Great selection of seafood and pasta. Everything prepared to perfection along with great service. King’s Fish House would be hard to beat. 10 out of 10.
Great Experience. Despite recent bad comments, the King’s Fish was next to our stay so we tried it out. We had a wonderful experience. The sushi was superb. Tuna was in season so I opted for the tuna roll. Excellent sushi for a place that is not a sushi place. I finished up with in-season Blue Fin tuna. Cooked perfectly. My wife had the tilapia. She had asked for the butter sauce on the side which they did not do. The order was promptly re-done. My son really enjoyed his freshly prepared chicken strips and fries. He insisted we go back the next night which we did. I opted for the special tuna roll, boy was it huge followed up by a burger this time. Great once again. Even the craftsmanship of the resturaunt is impressive. They put a lot of work in making it look like an old fish house even using antique doors etc.
Glass shards in long Island and way overcooked shrimp.. not recommended ..
King awful. Although we live just up the street it had been a few years since last trying Kings, so last night we gave it another go with the in-laws and our youngest. For 6pm on a Friday night the restraurant was fairly empty (in contrast to BJs two door up) and there were plenty of available tables. Decor was reminicant of Mimi’s Cafe, rather than a high end fish restaurant but hey maybe everything else was going to be perfection?Unfortunately not. The evening turned into a catalogue of errors. None of them damning at a low end restaurant, but all unforgivable at somewhere charging over $20 for most entres…First off the good… the oysters were tasty. The catfish was well cooked as was the whole lobster. The shrimp were fresh and flavorful. And now the bad…. – The ($4) kids sundae was a single scoop of icecream in a bowl with nuts and a bit of chocolate sauce, when it was pointed out that a sundae was icecream, topped with whipped cream and a cherry in a tall glass the server just frowned. We sent it back and changed to the single scoop (and still got charged $3 for it)- A replacement kids dessert took 10 minutes to arrive (how long does it take to scoop icecream?)- the server didn’t point out which oysters were which in the assortment (which kind of defeats the point).- The $20 salad was sloppily made and presented with a tiny quantity of the proteins. We later saw the same dish go out to a different table with twice the quantity of crab on it, which was an additional punch in the face.- Generally the prices were way up on what we would expect to pay at a chain restaurant (which it very much feels like). $17 for a small piece of catfish, $20 for a salad, $5 for kids mac and cheese (with no sides, plus $2 for a drink, plus $3 for a dessert) – The menu is un-inspired, the fish is simply prepared (fried, boiled, blackened) but so are the side dishes, and everything feels ‘safe’ (ie. bland)- There is no nutrition information on the menu (illegal in CA?) and there was no nutrition information available seperately. One of our diners was point counting and so had to fly blind with their choices.Bottom line is go to Oceanaire in San Diego if you want a nicer high end fish experience (it’s not perfect either but miles ahead of Kings and a similar price). Or go to the Fish House Vera Cruz in downtown Carlsbad for better selection of well prepared fish in a less ‘chainy’ environment. Or go to BJs or PF Changs on the same street for chain restaurants done right. And yes we could have complained, but there were so many mistakes we couldn’t imagine ever eating at Kings again. So why bother getting into a discussion with a manger who clearly doesn’t get ‘it’.
