I love the cozy lounges, rich green leather booths, blue and gold hues casting a low, romantic glow, and thick, dark-stained wood tables, The Henry adds a touch of classic sophistication to Robertson Blvd. Located in the former Newsroom Cafe space, offering delicious fare served all-day.The menu at The Henry features creative fare that will appeal to just about everyone omnivores, vegetarians, gluten-free diners and vegans. To start, we ordered the crunchy vegetable crudits with whipped tahini, orange and a peppery vinaigrette served on the side which added a nice touch. We also ordered the avocado hummus served with pickled carrot, radish, harissa and pumpkin seeds. Grilled pita bread accompanied this dish, and was perfect for dipping into the creamy hummus and scooping up the vegetables.Next, we had some of the popular shareable plates including the short rib pot stickers dusted with toasted sesame seeds. They arrived floating in a mizuna (Japanese mustard greens) and ponzu broth. Another favorite was the pan-fried potato hash browns topped with dollops of creamy white crme frache and ribbon slices of smoked Norwegian salmon with sliced chives and an arugula leaf. The menu also offers a rotisserie section with Creekstone prime rib, a French dip plate and Jidori chicken. We ordered three entres to share: the ra King salmon, diner-style wagyu burger with a special Henry sauce and black truffle risotto. The salmon was served with Chioggia beets, also known as candy cane beets. These root vegetables are especially sweet in flavor and dont bleed as much as regular beets. What made this dish extra special were the toasted grains and Marcona almond pesto, which balanced the sweetness of the vegetables with a nutty and buttery flavor. The burger, thick and juicy, was served with deliciously crispy fries. The risotto, served with baby asparagus and fried sunchockes, was topped with a poached egg that bathed the dish in savory yolk.We made sure to save room for the dessert and ordered the appealing croissant bread pudding. The rich dish was topped with toasted chopped pecans, whiskey-soaked raisins and a scoop of caramel ice cream. It was delicious. We splurged and also ordered a second dessert two blueberry hand pies. The sweet pastries were perfectly pinched around the edges and topped with lemon mascarpone and a scoop of cornbread ice cream. Another delectable winner. For those stopping by during brunch, The Henry also offers the craveable menu, which includes a quinoa breakfast burrito, Little Gem lettuce and asparagus Caesar salad, Korean-style skirt steak, and salted caramel rolls. The restaurant is kid-friendly with a menu for under $10.Whether youre dropping in for a quick drink or for a romantic dinner, The Henry has it all. dineandtravel.wordpress.com
