So much for customer service. I have patronized this business tens of times and have invited more than 20 friends and family to join me there for breakfast or lunch. As a home health and hospice nurse I am on the road and stop often for lunch. Yesterday however the owner bullied the single mother of three nursing student who was my ride along for the day. She could not afford to buy lunch and while I went inside to order and then returned to the outdoor table where my student was sitting eating her peanut butter and jelly sandwich, the owner approached and sternly said that this wasn’t a picnic table and Bidwell Park is 2 blocks over you can eat your sandwich and leave. What a jerk! I will not be back nor recommend it. No wonder the Hatchcover closed.

Huevos Rancheros Rock. I just had the Huevos and they were AWESOME…bring a big appetite cuz the serving is huge. My friend had the Dobie Gillis Benedict which was incredible. The house coffee is great as well. Definitely worth checking out.
Exxon Oil Spill Revisited. I ordered my potatoes crispy. I asked for no bell peppers to be in them. I received oil-slick limp potatoes that were absolutely saturated in oil. It was not busy and I told them I was willing to wait for the potatoes to crisp up. (They’ve never been able to achieve a crisp potato.) These were worse than normal. People at other tables were getting potatoes that almost looked good. Did they order theirs burnt? )The waitress came over to see how our meal was and I showed her the potatoes and informed her they were slimy. She shrugged and walked off. If these hadn’t been ordered crispy, what would I have gotten? They ask for facebook reviews, but when you write the truth of your experience, the review disappears and you get blocked.
