  Absolutely amazing! I had the pad Thai that is 100% homemade and is the best I have ever had, plus it was gluten free. I live 100 miles away and will be coming back to Chico just to eat here again. The owner is very friendly and helpful with questions. They also carry gluten free soy sauce. If you are looking for authentic Thai food and gluten free options come here!

  Best Restaurant Of The Year!. Hi,Please note that everything i said below was true at the time I wrote it. However, the restaurant has changed hands and while it is still a better than average restaurant it is no longer fantastic.My son and I have been going to new restaurants in Chico and surrounding areas every other Saturday since 2001. In December of each year we choose the best restaurant we’ve been to in the past 12 months and make a return visit.Our 2012 top pick was Mekkala Thai Cuisine. Even more impressive is the fact that of our 12 restaurants of the year Mekkala is the only one that was even better the second time around.The pineapple duck is truly incredible, all of the sauces on the variety of foods we had were very tasty without overpowering the taste of the foods themselves. The vegetables were perfectly cooked. Everything hit just the right note with our taste buds.Of course, bad service can ruin a great meal but that does not happen at Mekkala. It was considerably busier the second time we were there but the waitperson was just as friendly, attentive and timely as she was when the place was almost empty.The prices are reasonable and a great value for the quality. The atmosphere is pleasant and it is a suitable restaurant for a first date or a gathering of friends.My family is visiting from out-of-town in February and I can’t wait to take them to Mekkala!
