I’ve been to Mom’s many times. The only thing I ever had that I thought was really good was the burger. One time they had wagyu burger special for lunch. It was dry (not sure how they did that, if in fact it was cooked to order) and just tasteless. Recently my husband and I had lunch there and I tried the French dip. Hmmmm. The meat was dry, stringy and way over cooked. The jus has red rivulets of grease floating on the edges, plus the only part of the sandwich that had flavor was the horseradish sauce that was spread minimally on the roll. To top that off, my husband found a thin but long branch of some sort in his sandwich. He pulled it out of his mouth! I reluctantly told the waitress (it’s certainly not her fault) because I wanted them to know for future reference. She of course made all the appropriate apologies which seemed pretty insincere. They did comp his sandwich. This is like strike 2 or 3 for me…..inconsistency isn’t good. That has been my experience with Mom’s. I am not in the habit of complaining when I eat out; I’ve worked in food services and I understand. I couldn’t let this slide. I really wanted it to be good because for one thing my husband will almost always say what I cook is better, and sometimes I like a break from that. I was sooo disappointed. I almost took a picture of that sandwich but decided not to. It looked dry and stringy. My husband was almost finished with his sandwich when he found the tree branch in it. I just can’t figure out what all the hoopla is about. I’m not hard to please.
