Emperor SoC. We’ve eaten breakfast here about 4-5 times over the past year or so, and several of us have come to the conclusion that SoC just isn’t very good. It seems to be very popular because it’s very popular, but, sadly, this emperor has no clothes. Here’s the basis for our decision:COFFEE really has very little flavor. During our last two visits, 3 of us gave up after one sip. it looks good, and the place somehow gives the impression that the coffee will be dark, rich, strong, but it doesn’t deliver. EGGS are consistently dry & rubbery. Just bad.SYRUP is absolutely terrible. We think that it might be Karo corn syrup with a bit of maple flavoring or coloring? It’s incredibly viscous, but there’s very little flavor, and really no maple flavor whatsoever. SERVICE has been hit-or-miss. Whenever we’ve asked for some minor revision, we’ve never got it. Also, during our last visit, the server brought the food, then immediately brought the bill–telling us that he was going on his break. That’s fine, but we didn’t get any check up or additional service after the food was dropped off. Not good. NO CREDIT CARDS. Grow up, it’s 2013. You can use a damn Square system if you don’t want to support The Man. Other things–bacon, for instance–have been pretty good, but the 5-6 strikes mentioned here will keep us from returning.
