Outstanding. I was back in Chico recently and I knew that I needed to visit Tacos Cortez again. I lost count of how many times I ate dinner there while reading my textbooks. Thursday was the best as I always seemed to have a late lab on Thursday and they had the chicken burrito special for under 3 bucks. One minor quibble — with the new location seating is very limited. Food is still excellent.
The taste of home…. Oh, how I miss Tacos Cortez. Whenever I visit or pass through Chico (which isn’t often enough), I have to stop here. The bean and rice chimichanga is heavenly. The fried flour tortilla tastes buttery, and all of the flavors in this simple dish blend together harmoniously and make my tastebuds (and my belly), very happy! I love to cover it with the verde hot sauce and wash it down with a big Jamaica drink. If you don’t want to eat something fried, the bean and rice burrito is a good substitution. Though, you will miss out on the buttery, fried tortilla! You really can’t get better food for your money. It really is a good value and a tasty treat!
This place is still owned by the same family who operated the Roach Coach back in the 80s andthe food is still great and cheap. Try the pork chimichanga dinner. Makes me want to move back to Chico!
Good food, low prices. Great authentic Mexican food and very reasonable prices. The chimichanga and flour tostada are my favorites.
