This is another great place to take the family in Eastlake. The food isn’t necessarily a gastronomical masterpiece, but it’s reliably good and the service is always good as well. They are great with kids here and the wine honor system makes it easier for me to enjoy having my kids at dinner! 🙂 Shrimp Portofino has been a long-time fave of mine! stylishlysocial.com

Pick a Different Place. Sorry it has taken me so long to get this 411 out, so here goes. Last December, for our out-of-office holiday luncheon, 7 of us went to the Chula Vista location. The place was empty, but it took them forever to wait on us. And then it took forever for the food to come. Hopefully the long wait for the food was because it was being cooked to order? The portions were quite small and the prices were quite high. For what they charge and what you get, it was no big deal. The menu items were different, high Italian, but not 4 star quality or taste as the price would make you think it should be. The taste was quite average. Ive had better at the family owned/operated, non-corporate restaurants Ive eaten in.We were insulted as we were leaving, because the manager came over and asked us if we were going to leave a gratuity? Maybe one of us should have walked back to the table and taken the tip back at that point.Go back there, or any other Macaroni Grill? NEVER!
Most authentic Bologonese sauce I’ve had in an Italian resturant – it’s what keeps me coming back. Also addictive rosemary bread!
Cheap Gormet Lunch. The Macaroni Grill has a great lunch menu. The prosciutto & arugula with tortellini tomato soup was the right size the right price and tasted awesome. A very nice change from PB & J you may pack on a regular basis. They don’t need to but they do give you a warm loaf of bread with mixed @ the table olive oil for dipping. All quick and for 10 bucks.
I thought the food wasn’t too good. I can make this at home. The joint is nice and writing on the tables is cool
