Tapas that ate Tops!. A tiny place that doesn’t take reservations and is in a remote spot within Claremont Village. But a cool European/Bohemian flair with a slathering of Spain thrown in. If you like sampling different things, this is the place. Some things you’ll like, some you’ll love. Bacon covered Dates… Wow. Definitely go and brave the lines to get in, next time I go I think I’ll bring my own wine and pay the corkage, then my life will be complete!
Love, love, love! Can’t wait to return!
Liked it. My coworker was born and raised in Spain, and we heard the tapas were good so we ventured out. He said the decor was like bars back home, but the food wasn’t the same. We tried about a dozen types of tapas and the paellas. It was closer than most places in US so he enjoyed it, and I enjoyed as well.
Horribly disappointing. If I wasn’t so misled by the outstanding reviews this place has somehow accrued, I would have rated the place 2 stars instead of 1. I was looking for a good tapas place to take my girlfriend for her birthday, found a place called Viva Madrid with rave review after rave review, drove out from LA, and couldn’t have been more disappointed. The service was okay, ambiance good, and the food sub par. We ordered 4 or 5 tapas dishes and didn’t finish half of them. I suppose this place is decent if you’re looking for a few inexpensive tapas dishes, but don’t be fooled by the reviews into thinking you’re actually going to find quality food here. No idea how this place has so many rave reviews. 80% of them must be the product of a savvy marketing company; that or claremont is really hurting for good food. I would have preferred Chiles, even McDonalds.
Something has changed. Been here many times before, however something has changed. The Sangria was watered down. The Paella was soaky, tasteless. Some of the tapas were horrible. Don’t think I am coming back. Too pricy for lousy food and drinks.
The grilled vegetables are great.
