Burnt potatoes…soggy old salad…salty rice and gravy, or sauce, or whatever the hell that was on the meat..and the grumpiest , least interested waitress I’ve ever had! Ruined what was supposed to be a special borthday dinner. No side veggies available to boot, and the place needs a good airing out. Hated it.

Over-priced. My wife and I felt a little claustrophobic in this cave (the name is appropriate!). Cuts of meat are shown to you with a flashlight and you order with no indication as to what the price will be. The food was fine, but I was shocked when I received the bill. I love jazz, but the music was cheesy as hell (the Frank Sinatra tribute guy, sheesh). We won’t be back.

Good Food. Truthfully it’s a little scarey approching the entrance. Not what you’d expect in a fine steakhouse. The food is good and the service is excellant. I didn’t stay for the music..it was past my bedtime.

A retro classic. This place is the real deal – an old school steak and lobster fancy restaurant that was the pinnacle of eating in the 50s and 60s. There’s no faux charm here. This place is exactly as it has always been for 50 years. The place is dark as any place called La Cave should be. You take an elevator down to the basement! Depending on when you come the crowd may be the same people who have been coming here for 50 years or a younger hipster crowd. You either lived through the 50s or wished you did. Maybe you’ll spot the Mad Men.You get great meat and seafood offered up to you before cooking on a rolling cart. The grill is right there in the main room. On Mondays there’s a tribute to Frank Sinatra in the back room. The bartenders are experts at making real cocktails – get a martini or a Manhattan and save the girlie drinks for your Hawaiian vacation. They have great happy hour specials both in food and drinks at the bar only – 4:30 to 8PM!!

This is a great spot. The food is fantastic. Especially the filet mignon. Lots of charm. Only drawback is the wait time fo a table. But well worth it. Patty and Hearher are super.

Subterranean Cocktail Blues. La Cave serves the greatest shrimp cocktail I have ever had in my entire life! I just had one there last night, along with a Level Martini, and still feel nice from it. Come by on Sinatra night, or on the weekends when the music is live, the steaks are sizzling and the cocktails come across the bar to friendly, smiling faces.
