Looks a little sketchy from the outside but is very cool and chill atmosphere once you’re inside. Coming from Chicago that didn’t scare me. Sometimes that spells good food and good times. Servers were cool and informative. I ate there two nights while in town. I had an excellent burger and pork chop during my two visits. Burger tasted like a homemade mom burger. Very fresh ingredients on the burger. Will definitely go back next time I’m in town.

Really?. This place is way too expensive. Im sure the prices sound reasonable to a councilman but it sucks when you have to pay with your own money. 2 beers and two skimpy appetizers will cost you about $50.

Total Dive but Excellent Food. This place is interesting. It’s a total dive bar/restaurant. However the food is super delicious. We prefer this place for the flavor…and the price is super reasonable. I give this 2 thumbs up!

Great neighborhood restaurant.. You might not know about Skosh’s unless you’ve lived in Newport Mesa for a long time — it took us all of 15 years to discover it. When you do, you’ll be glad you did. We came at opening time on a weekday evening with three young kids and found the owner, Gary, waiting on our table. I’d give a lot to have a waitress as good as that, anywhere. The guy was patient, attentive and friendly despite having to also tend bar and oversee the place. The food is fantastic. I had the famous lamb stew, which was clearly homemade and delicious. My husband had the Wednesday night sirloin steak special. I tried it and found it very tender and flavorful — about what you’d expect for 3 times the $12 price. The kids loved the pepperoni pizza and immense beef frank from the kids’ menu. And they were all kept occupied by the video games and skill crane. Skosh’s has such a relaxed atmosphere, no one cared that they were cheering each other’s victories. If you hear mentions of price inflating or failure to honor coupons on other sites, I totally don’t understand this. Gary was a sweetheart and the coupon says on its face it only covers up to $14. And the service, despite understaffing on this particular night and very odd early hour, was incredibly good. We will be back every week, I expect. That’s definitely the kids’ vote.
