You better like what they make cause that’s it. This is a food cart grown into an empire but at the heart of it is one basic dish – the plate. Yeah, you can get a few other things but almost everyone gets the plate which is really an aluminum to-go container with an assortment of vaguely from somewhere Middle Eastern food. Rice with beef, chicken or both, a dab of this and bit of pita – and there it is. When this is exactly what I want, then it satisfies. But I mostly go elsewhere as there is no variety. And to think people stood in line 4 hours when it first opened.
As for customer experience it has not been enjoyable. The workers looked past me, they were far to fast. By this I mean they lost track of my order, they skipped me on some parts. They also lost track of what they themselves were doing. The best customer service I seen was the guy on door duty who was making conversation. The food, the food is amazing just make sure you get the right plate and keep an eye on your food. Cause you’re gonna want the one you ordered. It really is an amazing taste.
Came on the day of the Grand Opening to see what all the hype is all about for the famous NY Street Food. Waited almost 3 hours and I was in the first 100 in line. Only schwag I got was a hat because the girl that was 5 person in front of me got the last one. No, I did not see them handing out discount coupons at all like their Facebook page. I thought I would come here and assess fairly as a customer rather than an invited guest. As for the food, I ordered the classic plate with the chicken/lamb/rice/salad. I have to say, the chicken and rice was the tastiest. The white sauce is good but I thought the red sauce packet (that strangely is $0.50 on the board for a packet) is a little spicy for me. (Yes, me) Would I wait 3 hours again? No, I don’t think so. Would I come back again? Yes, I would.I think Cremistry is opening up soon and they were handing out 20% coupons from next door. There’s so much good food around this block with The Lab and The Camp and restaurants like Anjin from the same plaza.$8.95 for the Classic Plate. lawonders.net
After living in NYC for 3 years and having eaten at the Halal Guys truck almost every weekend….I will say that this locations tastes just the same! I am so excited to know that the Halal Guys team did an EXCELLENT job on bringing over an iconic NYC dish (without having to transfer the water ;))! Now…hurry up and open a couple more locations so I can get this every night! Also, I love the chicken and rice with a lot of white sauce and some hot sauce! There are some tables inside, and there is an attached parking lot. However, the lines look like they will be long and won’t slow down anytime soon!
