Weak wine selection. I understand that this place is in a blue collar area, then why open a wine bar that caters to the the people that wont drink box wine but wont pay for good wine?. The by the bottle selection is poor and the by the glass selection isnt very good. A sad state for something that has the potential be be something very great. The staff is great, but no food. You have to order from a restaurant/s down the street, and that isnt always what you want to pair with your wine.
The coolest spot in Old Town Covina. The atmosphere is so cool and laid back. We were so comfortable there it felt like lounging on the couch at the home of your best friend. Galen and his wife, the owners are awesome. The wine was spectacular. I will be back there very soon!
Best Wine Bar/Art Gallery in SG Valley. Here’s the reason – its not necessarily the wine, the wine you get at this fine establishment you can pick up around town at your better specialty stores or local markets. It is the atmosphere you are going for. The owner Galen and his team are just plain fun, entertaining and knowledgeable. The gallery has plenty to see if you enjoy art. They also have a large selection of beer and Japanese Vodka (try this if you havent before). You need to know – there isnt any food available, except for light appetizers available on Thursday during flight night wine tasting…and you better be early. But you can bring in your own food, highly suggested. Grab some assorted cheeses from your local Trader Joes, or some hummus and pita breat, cut up fruit and your set..,..oh WAIT!!!! Dont forget the chocolate! Or order take out while you are there – lots of restaurants will deliver to Azo. Azo meets Giovannis Restaurant – one Tuesdays a month Giovannis will be at Azo with Italian or Mesican food like you have never had it before. First off, you cant beat the price, it runs about 7-8 bucks and the plate is filled to the brim! But forget that, its more about how delicious the food is and how well it goes with the selection of wine that owner Galen Metz has picked out for the evening. Come on down on a Tuesday night, maybe I will see you there!
