Great little place. A nice sushi-bar downstairs. Upstairs, Bishamon 2F, is a very cool karaoke bar & lounge. Downstairs in the cafe, the staff are very friendly, and the food is what you’d expect, and very delicious. Upstairs there is a $5 cover & 1 drink minimum. Karaoke is fun as the microphones are brought to your table (good for fall-down-drunks & those with stagefright). Every 3rd Saturday of the month is DJ night & there is no karaoke. Only downside…smoking laws aren’t enforced in the upstairs bar & with no ventilation you can go home stinking of a carton of cigarettes. I know smokers who can’t believe who strong the odor is in their hair & clothing when they leave. Also, the downstairs cafe can feel a little cramped on busy nights, but it’s only a problem if you have more than four in your group.

AYCE Sushi Bar. Bishamon is a small Japanese restaurant in downtown Covina. The restaurant is on the first floor, and a karaoke bar on the second floor. We came for the all you can eat sushi lunch. We sat at the sushi bar, and ordered omakase style. A few of my favorites were halibut, sweet shrimp, and albacore sushi. The sushi chef gave us big pieces of fish on top of sushi rice, probably 3 times the size of the rice. I couldn’t eat the whole sushi in one bite. The seafood was very fresh. The sweet shrimp was killed right in front of us. It was a little scary seeing that. The shrimp head was still moving when the chef served it to us. I couldn’t eat it like that. Had to wait till it finally stopped moving. I mean, the sweet shrimp sushi was delicious. But I rather not having to see the half-dead shrimp on my plate. Albacore was cooked partially with a torch fun. Super yummy!I really like the food here. And the all you can eat lunch was a great deal!
