Gustatory. Eleven people sat down for dinner, Tea Leaf Salad and Mohinga were the anchors, with a variety of other dishes including papaya salad, okra and eggplant. Corkage was $15 per bottle. Nice experience.
First Rate Service in a modest neighborhood location. This Burmese restaurant had about the friendliest service and homiest feeling of any place I’ve been to in SF metro. It was recommended in the Chronicle’s top Cheap Eats awards for 2010, and three of us went. The room was pretty and the service warm and effective. Chin Bong Jao (a rice dish w/prawns & piquant vegetables) was outstanding. The Tea Leaf Salad was very nice and different. The Garlic Noodles were ordinary — I always fall for ordering this dish in Burmese places, and I’m always disappointed — my bad, not theirs…it’s just a colorless dish with an exhilarating name.Very reasonably-priced, congenial place with much of interest on the menu. I’ll go back soon.
