Fantastic atmosphere, great food, superb service, an overall unique place offering an exceptional experience. It is very comfortable, warm and cozy, and the food choices range from elevated comfort foods to amazing fish and chips
Finally got the chance to check out Macallans on a Friday night and without a doubt, this will be my go to for Irish Pubs. Not only do they have good beer and Whiskey selections, the food is also good with a modern spin on some. Our server Joseph took care of me and my friend providing great service where beers and entrees were brought to us at a fast pace. Unfamiliar with some of the beers on the menu, my friend wanted something more on the New Castle side so Joseph recommended Smithwicks which was spot on and pretty good. The entrees selected were the whiskey (Jameson) glazed wings, the animal style poutine, the El Cubano sandwich, and the Jesse James burger. The portions were bigger than expected and delicious. The wings starts off with a mild sweet flavor before transitioning into savory. The poutine was very tasty with lots of flavorful sauce, pickles, corned beef, cheese, grilled onions, and a perfectly cooked egg on top. You can never go wrong with yolk running down an entree. Keep napkins on hand haha. The El Cubano is definitely a sandwich I’ll order again. The Cuban roll was buttery and had a decent amount of pork cheek meat within it. The sandwich also had pieces of pork belly but the pork cheek stood out the most and was well seasoned. The Jesse James burger was very cheesy, juicy and contained roasted green chilies that adds a lot more flavor. Also had a nice crunch from the onion rings. As I mentioned earlier, the portions were bigger than expected leaving our server doubting it could all be finished in one sitting. I told Joseph it’ll all be eaten no worries so challenge excepted. Unfortunately I threw in the white towel just as I was almost finsihed. To my defense only fries from the sandwich was left lol. This was a fun visit with great food, drinks, cool service, and a live band. I’ll try to add in dessert as well next visit while completely finishing my plate haha.Visit Date 5/13/2016
Fish and Chips. Crispy Beer Batter with flaky white fish and fresh cut fries28 Dec, 2014Awesome upscale IRISH PUB with a huge scotch list, great menu and service to match. I went to Macallans on Birch Street in Brea and was first blown away with the decor, it was upscale but still very comfortable (I came from a long day of work). I got a seat at the bar and took the recommendation of the potato nuggets as an appetizer. They said they make their own dipping sauces. It was awesome.I tried the Guinness Stew (it was new) and WOW, I loved it. I posted a photo for all to see. They have 20 beers on tap and another 20 in bottles. Domestic and craft (mostly local craft) and a few Belgium selections. They had 200 scotch, whiskey and bourbons. Biggest selection I have seen.Ended the night with a great bourbon (Bulleit). Did not taste the desserts.
