This is another excellent restaurant I’ve gotten to try this month with some interesting spins on traditional Mexican dishes. I literally had a feast with friends and can’t call off a single dish we ordered that I was disappointed with or even considered to be just ok.Started with some tostadas that came with six types of dips. This held us quite well until plates began rolling out. We also ordered some Michelada’s that came with a house jerky that went nice with the flavor of the drink. One by one the plates rolled out, first being the tinga taquitos. I love tinga so it was no surprise to me myself that I’d like this dish. Next was the enchiladas which sauce truly made the dish with a nice lemony flavor. After was the Tempo burger that impressed me more than expected. The beef was well seasoned and juicy. A nice piece of pork belly also occupied this burger making it even better. My two top dishes were the table side carnitas and the ceviche flatbread. The carnitas was tender and flavorful…in fact, everything that came with the carnitas had a great flavor. The veggies and the rice was excellent. For the ceviche flatbread, I have to give it to Tempo for creativity. Flatbread is flatbread but ceviche flatbread??? This was something new and both the marinara & cheese didn’t take away from the ceviche flavor. I got that delicious lemon taste with fresh shrimp that stood on its own…not colliding with other toppings.I didn’t leave without trying dessert as I received a free tres leches cake for my birthday. Good stuff but I have to give it to the creme brle ice cream. Creme brle is one of my favorite desserts of all time and it was great having it in ice cream form. More so amazing and it was cool watching the waitress prepare the ice cream in front of us at our table.Tempo is located across the street from Brea Mall so if you’re looking for grub after shopping, I recommend paying a visit. I recommend visiting even if you’re not shopping or in the area. I’d make the drive fer sures.Visit Date 11/12/2015

Started off bad – I made reservations with Open Table – and they ignored them!! They claimed I had to be treated like a walk-in – even though I made a reservation – because they were too busy! I am sorry, but if you are going to sign-up and agree to be on Open Table, then you need to honor the reservations no matter what. Or don’t be part of OpenTable. One of the other. That being said, once I finally got to my table, the server did an excellent job and made sure our food came out quickly from the kitchen. And the food was really quite delicious. This all partially made up for our horrible first impression! We had the ceviche flatbread, the octopus and pork belly, the four tacos, and the bone marrow. Each was very tasty and unique. So all in all, this is a decent restaurant and worth trying if you’re in the area. However, be warned about the reservation system. I saw several other customers that were even more than upset about how they were treated in the seating and reservation system. So be prepared for that before you go in.

First Impression. Having just left this restaurant, I find it appropriate to comment on our experience. We arrived anticipating a new updated version of Lascari’s. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. Witnessing the other patrons tonight, I suspect they too were disappointed. Lascari’s was a staple in the community and will be missed. Service was uncomfortable, inconsistent and obviously I attribute this to being a new setting. The menu was extremely limited and over priced for the portions and service. The menu offered a chicken breast with curry, potatoes mousseline and vegetables. First, the whipped potatoes were refrigerator cold. There was absolutely no curry found on the chicken which was extremely bland, but moist. The accompanying vegetables were bitter, to be kind in a description. The wine that was served was also bitter and over-priced. I would expect a restaurant which charged such fees would at least serve iced tea and water in glasses rather than mason jars. There is a significant contradiction in the atmosphere and the menu. I am confident that essentially all of the patrons tonight will not return. The menu is not one that will succeed in this community. We came home hungry and disappointed
