Great Food!. I have come to this adorable little cafe on many occasions in the last few months for breakfast and lunch. The food was really good! For breakfast, my favorites so far are the Mediterranean Omelet and the Bananas Foster Stuffed French Toast! The omelet was so tasty with its delish blend of olives, artichokes, and spinach all topped with crumbled feta! Makes your mouth water doesn’t it?If that didn’t then the Bananas Foster will! Its stuffed with ricotta cheese that is light and airy making the french toast seem like dessert and not breakfast. For lunch, I love me some tomato soup. Seriously, it puts other tomato soups to shame. The chicken and rice soup here is really good too! And they are really good with a sandwich, which there is a huge selection to choose from!So this place is awesome. The atmosphere is quiet and tucked away making you feel like you stumbled upon Fullerton’s best kept secret! I heard that they do catering for parties and weddings so I am definitely keeping this sweet place in mind for that. I bet their food for that would be splendid!
Bad Experience at lunch time. Our family ventured out to downtown Fullerton today to enjoy a lovely July day, and stopped by the Brownstone Cafe to try a quick lunch outside in the sun. The menu looked good, and we were directed to a table quickly. That was the one and only quick thing that happened for the next 75 minutes. After about 10 minutes we were served some water, and another 10 minutes later our order was taken. We asked for some lemons for the water, but they had none. We wanted to have salad with the sandwiches we ordered, but were informed that even though the menu says the sandwiches come with choice of salad, that our choice was potato salad or chips. Later we discovered that they were out of potato salad, so would it be OK to substitute soup. We said that would be fine, but then a few moments later were told they were out of soup. While waiting for our appetizer to arrive, we fed the baby his appetizer, main course, and dessert. We had been sitting there nearly an hour before our appetizer finally arrived, and 5 minutes later our sandwiches came. Since it took so long for our sandwiches, we asked about the soup, and were told that they did in fact now have some more soup almost ready, just another 5 minutes. The food was OK, but the service was very slow, and the server didn’t do a very good job of letting us know why it was taking so long, and wasn’t apologetic. When our food finally did arrive, another employee brought the food and apologized for all the delays, but they had just been ‘hammered’ for lunch that day.Perhaps during the colder winter months the inside seating the offer is small enough for their staff to do a better job of serving, but I can’t imagine trying to stop by for a quick lunch if I worked downtown Fullerton. Avoid this place if you have less than 75 minutes for a sandwich at lunch!!
