Tiny little place located off CHapman and Harbor, in the same tiny area with Chronic Tacos, Grits, and Philly Cheesesteak. The place used to be located across the street, on the other side of Harbor Blvd. Not only is the restaurant tiny, so is their parking lot, so use the parking lot next door. When you walk in, you’re instantly greeted and asked if you want a table or to sit at the coveted sushi bar. The sushi bar, like the restaurant, is small, so we chose a table. Like the restaurant, the table is small, or actually narrow. Be prepared to be creative in moving dishes while you eat.Karen is not huge sushi eater, and fortunately their menu has non sushi items like their bento boxes with steak and chicken teriyaki, or they have tempura and udon noodles. Karen chose the shrimp tempura udon, while I went for a medley of sushi: tuna cut roll, a tuna handroll with avocado and crabmeat, and a spider roll, which is a soft shell crab and crabmeat. Karen’s shrimp was served separately from the noodles, allowing her to control how saturated she wanted her shrimp to be in the soup. The portion was decent, and not bad for $10.My sushi was exactly what I wanted, and prepared just the way I expected it to be. It had been a long time since I had a simple sushi meal, and it hit the spot.I wish they did provide complimentary soup or even tea. Aside from the bento box, everything seems a la carte, which can definitely add up. Our 4 items came to $33 before tip. callmemochelle.com

My first and last time visiting Kaori was at it’s new location. The seating was uncomfortable, but the atmosphere was nice besides that. The service was fine too. But the food wasn’t so great, and that is what matters most when you’re going in for a little lunch. I had the yellow tail sashimi. Perhaps it was my luck, but it wasn’t fresh and had an almost mayonnaise taste to it. I’ve never had such grotesque yellowtail before. Almost, I didn’t particularly like that rice and miso soup had to be asked for and cost extra. I didn’t try anything besides the sashimi, so if you’re going for a cooked meal don’t let my review deter you.

Omakase – not too fancy, fancy enough!. This is honestly my favorite place to go for sushi in all of Orange County/Los Angeles County. Seriously. Gino, the sushi chef and owner, was once awarded for being the YOUNGEST sushi chef accredited in Orange County. And you know, his food is delicious, every. single. time. It got to the point that when I called in to order omakase, he would recognize my voice. Nice! I’m glad to have recommended Kaori and Gino to my Yelp friends along with eating that famed live lobster sashimi. And for those who complain, please don’t ever go to Japan where they’ll serve you live fish sashimi! If you’re not open-minded enough to even TRY to eat it, I think your review should be plugged.

Best Authentic Japanese Food in North OC. I have to say that I have lived in Fullerton my whole life and I started going to Kaori 5 months ago. We started going about once a week. The place is cute, the food is excellent and my dad who is Japanese says it’s authentic. So, eat there when they re-open in February. We are bummed their closed right now. Even my baby likes their teriyaki steak. Very tasty and always busy. That’s a good sign of a good restaurant, especially in this economy.

Elderly lady in australia. I believe we need to care for animals that feel pain and fear, so i am greatly concerned when humans abuse animals in any way.eating a live animal is beyond cannibalism. comments i have read….yummy cheap delicious, well really folks are you thinking about what you are doi ng….i am gobsmacked that humans have decended so low. tragic for us let alone the lobster.

Tucked Away Sushi. Cute little sushi restaurant in downtown Fullerton, the waitress didn’t speak English (which I always take as a good sign that the food is authentic!) and the food was great. The prices are really reasonable, I would definitely go again if I’m in the area.
