–Quick fix if you’re jonesing for some Mexican food. Busy and a bit noisy, Super Mex does make tasty on-the-rocks margaritas. The menu is typical fare. Careful, the glasses on the table (plastic cups) they serve water in, the rims are usually chipped. You can easily cut your lip on them. Opt for straws, or stick with cocktails/beer.
More mediocre Mexican food. The bar should be set high for Mexican food in Southern California. There is no excuse for mediocre stuff. Irvine unfortunately is filled with mediocre Mexican food…most of it chain restaurants. Add this place to the list. On the plus side: decent real margaritas that weren’t watered down, whole fried tortillas and a decent enough salsa.On the negative side: Their signature burritos come with lettuce…that’s a crime. The enchilada and chile relleno combo had the smallest examples of either of these staples that I have encountered. Was that a baby pepper they stuffed?
