Put the DINER in the DINER – please!. Something tells me the owner of Bert’s Diner doesn’t read the reviews – but here goes anyway. Wilton’s small – and so having this nostalgic diner adds much character to the town. It’s unfortunate, though, that the 50’s Diner theme does NOT correspond with the menu. This is a Mexican Restaurant, make no mistake about it. :o( The menu is loaded with mexican dishes, appetizers, etc. Why? Probably because the cook staff is Mexican. Bert’s Diner needs a total overhaul of its menu, and either make it DINER FOOD, which one would expect from an American Diner — or — tear down the building and make an adobe hut. Until the menu has the classic diner standards: 24 hr breakfast, chicken fried steak, hot sandwiches (open face turkey, etc), and other diner favorites – it is NOT an American Diner. Bring in a chef with overhaul experience, and bring Bert’s Diner back to the 50’s where it belongs. Won’t be back until then.
