I have bringing my grandaughter and often her brother here when we were in Elk Grove since they were quite small.. Often, I have been pleased, because the food was better than others in Laguna, but primarily, because the children, who are very well behaved, were treated in kind.I called to get a reservation for my grandaughters’ 13th BD celebration with Grandma Jo Jo,, for Friday evening. I had made an appt. with Ulta for her first cosmetic appt. and it was late. Nevertheless, we were still within 20 or 30 minutes of our appt.Everything went well until we were seated. Our waiter showed up and spit out language. I asked him to stop and asked if he was from New York. He remarked, you are not the first person to ask me that.It didn’t help. When he returned, it was the same I had no idea what he was saying. (I am from Chicago, and also speak pretty fast – but not to compete with this young man!)He was in a rush all the time, but paying no attention. I asked him for butter instead of oil. Never got it. I ordered Pelligrini orange, my grandaughter ordered an Italian soda (this is one of the reasons I bring them there). She got her drink, I got a closed can and a glass plonked on the table.I am now old. I can’t open these cans and bottles without a tool – and why should I, in a restaraunt – I’m not in KFC!He never brought the butter. OK – I don’t want the bread without butter – but that’s OK, no bread, no big deal, it’s my grandaughter’s BD dinner with me (oh, did I mention, when I called for reservations, I made a HUGE point of this.)Our dinners came and they were Ok. It took what seemed like forever, but, the place was busy. My dinner (chicken under a brick) was not as nice as I remembered from previous orders – it was overcooked and dry, but, my grandaughter was happy with hers, so I was still OK.It was dessert time. The waiter asked what she wanted – and disappeared. I wanted a dessert as well, but he was gone, gone, gone. I tried to flag another waiter to get him back. He had already served my grandaughter her chocolate cake before he responded to my arm flailing. What? I wanted a tirimusu.By now i was completely done with the whole thing. It never came, she was done, I was TOTALLY done. He was then going to make the order.I asked him to just take my card, I would visit the ladies room and sign at the desk. How stupid could I be. He just took it all back to the table. Where I wasn’t. I was at the front desk to sign.I do not normally make complaints such as these, but I can’t help wondering if this young man is having a problem with speech and attention. Hopefully only an overeager waiter – but I wonder.Thank goodness my grandaughter has been raised to not make a fuss over these things, but, on the other hand, she is also not having to pay for them. This was supposed to be the end of a fun day for her and myself, and it was not.I will be thinking more than twice about returning.Which is going to be a sad thing, because the three of us have had so many happy times there.

Macaroni Grill. This used to be one of our favorite places to eat. In the past year, the prices have gone up, the portions have gotten smaller, and they have changed their menu and dropped a lot of dishes we used to enjoy. May return in the future if they make some changes to the menu.
The macaroni grill is an amazing place full of rich Italian smells that make you want it. Their Rosemary bread is plentiful and their food is served hot and speedy. I would highly reccomend this place for anyone who is interested in an authentic Italian experience
