Truly Delightful. If you’re in the mood for decadent food, this is the place. Breakfast can be as simple as pain au chocolat and hot cocoa or as complicated as a brioche topped with spinach bechamel and poached eggs—with a side of rosemary roasted potatoes and a mimosa.I’m a regular customer and Alberta and her staff never cease to delight me. From the first day I walked in the door and every visit since, I’ve been made to feel welcome and the food and service has never failed to more than meet my expectations. The butter croissants are nearly the size of an ostrich egg, so you can see just how huge they are. Same with the filled croissants…they’re enough for three people to share. Texture and taste are lovely.I’ve had two different breakfasts there…the egg/swiss/avocado croissant sandwich and the above mentioned brioche with spinach bechamel. Both were delicious. The onion soup is exactly what it ought to be. Thick, rich and flavorful without being too salty and better still, it’s made the right way, with cognac. I’ve eaten the chocolate croissant, the chocolate/almond croissant, the macarons and a fudge cake filled with fresh raspberries and topped with chocolate ganache and ALL were better than any I’ve tried anywhere else. This pastry chef knows his stuff!Prices are comparable to any other decent restaurant and for the serving size and quality, it’s a very good value for the money. The atmosphere is casual and friendly…even well behaved dogs are welcome at the outdoor bistro tables. When Alberta, the owner, is around, which is most of the time, she can be seen flitting from table to table dispensing hugs and smiles along with refills of coffee.
Beautiful pastries. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to sit down and eat so we grabbed some grub from their counter. The croissants were so incredibly buttery and flakey. It’s all I had but if their croissants are an indication of how good the rest of the food is here then it must be real good?
Is now even Better. Have been to this seveal times and the new management is handling things better. Really delicious food…good and kind service… Delightful boulangerie
The Best In San Diego County. The food is absolutely delicious and so well prepared. We had our Board Holiday Dinner at the Delight Of France. Everyone commented on the food and the atmosphere. Where today does anyone go and get treated like they are so appreciated to be a customer. The desserts are like a trip to Europe. They are mouth-watering picture perfect and so delicious!
Under New Management!. I was pleasantly surprise last night to find A Delight of France under new management. The new owners are from the Escondido area and love the community, want to bring the very best french food/bakery items to lovers of the same! I had the French Onion Soup last night, oh! my!!! Yum, so much flavor and cheese, a meal unto it’self. I’m really looking forward to a breakfast, love to try everything on the menu.
Much like in Paris, plan some time when you go to this bakery, you won’t regret that you did. Used to work down the street and could go Amy time and know I would get something delicious.
Great food. Not too pricey for the quality too bad the coffee wasnt available until we were done eating
