Food is great, service not so much. They now charge for refills on sodas $1 per refill. The size of the glasses almost makes it mandatory to get refills. The owner says he will not change this policy. Kind of stupid, to save probably $1-2 a month he lost our business which was about $60-80 per month.

I’v eaten at the restaurant for breakfast lunch and dinner. The food and the staff are great. The margaritas are fantastic! a wonderful place to take family and friends.

We came for a second time after about six months, during a game break at a softball tournament. We arrived at 5:15 PM on a Saturday, were greeted at the door and seated immediately. We ordered, and our waitress, Tiffany, spent time with us discussing our tournament and asking about Las Vegas, where we are from. The food was excellent this time, as it was the first time. I had the Molcajete Anejo, with shrimp, and it was enough for almost two people. It was delicious, especially the broth, and I ate way too much! The Margarita was delicious – on the rocks, no salt, and complemented the meal. My wife had the cheese enchiladas and enjoyed them as well. Our last visit I had the Abujos entre – sliced short ribs cooked in a spicy sauce – and they were superb as well. I recommend Anejo Bar for both typical and less well known Mexican dishes.

Poor service. Never had a chance to try the food-we were never greeted by a hostess or server to be seated – even after a waiter motioned to another waiter to help us; we left after 10 mins. I even contacted the resturant via their website regarding our experience and never heard from them. Sorry to say I may never try this place and I will not recommend the resturant either

A New City Favorite. With no shortage of excellent Mexican cuisine in Escondido or really anywhere in San Diego county, my expectations are high for any Mexican restaurant. This one is right on the money. Great tasting, honest, familiar food, with an exceptionally fresh taste and quick attentive, intimate service to match. I ordered a Chili Colorado Burrito and a Chicken Quesadilla, expecting small portions that I’m used to at some restaurants, and I literally bit off more than I could chew, and believe me I am a big time eater. I ate the whole burrito and half of the enormous quesadilla. My Girlfriend had a ceviche tostada and it was one of the best one’s in town. We decided to order to go food for the kids and enjoyed a fresh house margarita with the perfect amount of salt. Our waiter was extremely friendly and the entire staff was attentive. We ate kind of early for dinner, but by the time we left the place was almost full. Definitely a place where they take care of their local regulars. It is a family environment, I noticed a private room of good size as well. But in the bar you could definitely have a great time without scaring anyone. I did not check out the bathrooms though. Overall a great place, a new favorite and I couldn’t believe how cheap the bill was when it came out. I have spent that much at Jack in the Box and not been a stuffed as I was here. Check this place out again and again.

Started off with the standard chips and salsa. The salsa taste fresh, good start. I ordered the carnitas torta. It was good and would get again My wife got the chicken molcajete it was served in a hot lava rock bowl. Great presentation. It was so good and juicy. Try it. And my daughter had the huge steak burrito. Steak cheese and French fries in the burrito. Awesome. And the service was awesome also.
