Surprised and disappointed. Today was the first time I was served a less than wonderful meal at Fat’s Bistro in Folsom. The tonic in my vodka tonic was flat. The chicken in the chicken lettuce cups was so hot it was inedible. It is usually very flavorful with a little spice. My husband’s salad was flavorless, it’s only saving grace was the avocado. I am so disappointed because this is one of my favorite places to eat. I hope this will not be the norm and that it was just a bad day for the chef.
The building is gorgeous, but the food is extremely expensive for what it is. Honestly, I didn’t think it was that much better than a decent Chinese take out place. I wouldn’t go back.
What Happened. The qualify of food and taste has drastically gone down in the past 3 years. Honey walnut prawns, really prawns, very small. Hong Kong chow mein had no taste. Food was cold. Waiter really sucked. I really have no plans to ever return.
Pleasant ambiance… If you don’t order crab won tons, you are doing a disservice to yourself.Also recommended:- Honey Roasted Duck- Chow Fun- Fat’s Chicken Salad (for lunch)
Disappointing. I’ve eaten at and bought take out from Fat’s Folsom, for 5 years. What a terrible disappointment to order take out last evening. I ordered at the counter, it was ready in two minutes1? I should have been suspicious. When I got home ten minutes later it was still warm, but it tasted hours old, the vegetables tasted bad, they used bottled garlic the meat was dry. The worst place of food I’ve ever had from any restaurant. Not sure if I will return.
Good food. My uncle travels to Folsom a lot and he told me that Fat’s is a great aisian resturaunt. So the first time I went to Cali he took me here. I ordered the coconut shrimp and I think Bubba would be proud. I can’t wait to come here again, hopefully soon.
Busy place, good food. Made reservations for a Saturday @7pm a week ago. We weren’t actually seated until 7:20. I would think people with reservations could be seated a little closer to their desired dining time.Our waiter greeted us with 4 glasses of water withiin mere minutes of us being seated. After ordering, the food arrived within 15 minutes.We ordered Honey Walnut Prawns, Orange Chicken and Garlic Green Beans. Everything was delicious and obviously prepared fresh. I highly recommend the Banana Cream Pie for dessert.Due to the menu prices however, this restaurant is reserved for extra-special occasions only.
